Sound Level Meter & Acoustic Calibration in India

Acoustic calibration is testing, modifying, and verifying sound measurement instruments to ensure they fulfill specific accuracy requirements.

Acoustic Calibration — Kesar Testing Service LLP

THE SERVICE

Acoustic calibration in Ahmedabad, by an NABL accredited lab.

Acoustic calibration verifies that sound level meters, noise dosimeters and acoustic calibrators report sound pressure level and frequency response correctly. Occupational noise surveys, environmental monitoring and equipment noise tests all rest on these readings, so a meter that drifts can understate exposure or fail a product that should pass.

Acoustic calibration is testing, modifying, and verifying sound measurement instruments to ensure they fulfill specific accuracy requirements. This procedure is often employed on devices such as microphones, sound level meters, and other acoustic tools that measure sound pressure, frequencies, and other properties.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why acoustic calibration matters
for Gujarat's industries.

Accurate, traceable calibration protects product quality and keeps your records defensible.

01

Credible noise surveys

A calibrated meter and field calibrator give your occupational and environmental noise reports a defensible basis when they are reviewed by authorities or clients.

02

Meter and calibrator together

Calibrating the sound level meter and its acoustic calibrator as a pair ensures your daily field checks are themselves based on a verified reference.

03

Recognised reference methods

We work with reference to the IEC 61672 series for sound level meters and IEC 60942 for acoustic calibrators.

HOW WE WORK

How our Ahmedabad lab works with you.

Every engagement follows the same disciplined steps, so results are consistent and audit-ready.

  1. 01

    Scope your requirement

Share your instrument list, rooms or systems and the standards you work to. We confirm parameters, ranges and acceptance criteria before anything is scheduled.

  2. 02

    Plan the work

We agree dates, on-site or in-lab handling and the protocol to follow, so production and QA know exactly what will happen and when.

  3. 03

    Measure with traceable standards

Qualified engineers carry out the work using calibrated reference instruments traceable to national standards, recording raw data as they go.

  4. 04

    Report and certify

You receive clear certificates and reports — results, uncertainty or acceptance criteria, and traceability — ready for audits and regulatory inspections.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Acoustic calibration in Ahmedabad: your questions.

Can’t find what you need? Call +91 63579 03105 or email calibration@kesartesting.com.

Why does a sound level meter need laboratory calibration if I check it with a field calibrator?

A field calibrator only checks the meter at a single level and frequency before use. Laboratory calibration examines the meter's response across frequency weightings and levels, and also verifies the field calibrator itself. Both are needed: the field check confirms day-to-day stability, while periodic calibration confirms overall accuracy.

Should I send the acoustic calibrator along with the sound level meter?

Yes, we recommend it. The acoustic calibrator is the reference you use to set the meter in the field, so if it has drifted, every subsequent field check carries that error. Calibrating both at the same time keeps the pair consistent.

Which standards apply to sound level meter calibration?

Sound level meters are specified in the IEC 61672 series, and acoustic calibrators in IEC 60942. Calibration is carried out with reference to these standards and traceable to national standards. Contact us to confirm that your instrument class and test requirements fall within our NABL scope of accreditation.

Can you calibrate noise dosimeters used for workplace exposure monitoring?

Personal noise dosimeters can be calibrated in the same way as sound level meters, with checks on level response and frequency weighting. Share the make, model and class of your dosimeters and we will confirm whether they are covered within our scope of accreditation.
