Why do we need a calibrated tachometer for centrifuge qualification?

Centrifuge performance is specified in terms of speed or relative centrifugal force, and qualification protocols require the actual speed to be verified. A tachometer with a valid, traceable calibration certificate provides evidence that the speed measured during qualification is accurate.

Can you calibrate both contact and non-contact tachometers?

Yes. Contact tachometers and optical non-contact tachometers are calibrated by comparing their readings with a reference speed source at points across the range you use. Contact us to confirm that your instrument and range fall within our NABL scope of accreditation.

Do vibration meters need calibration if they pass a self-test?

A self-test confirms that the electronics are working but does not prove that the sensor reports true vibration levels. Accelerometers and their cables can change sensitivity over time. Calibration against controlled reference motion is the only way to confirm the readings are accurate.

What information should we provide when sending speed instruments for calibration?

Share the make, model and serial number of each instrument, the measurement type (contact, optical or vibration), the range you actually use and any accessories such as reflective tape, contact tips or sensor cables. This helps us plan suitable test points and return the instrument quickly.
